Staff & Facilities
Welling & Company consists of a
small staff of highly skilled professionals supplemented by an experienced
support staff. Our staff has experience in working for firms in several
segments of the petroleum industry, including but not limited to oil & gas
production, production equipment manufacturing, geophysical services, petroleum
industry consulting, offshore equipment manufacturing, oilfield service,
financial institutions and others.
Most of the work of the company
is directed out of the Houston office. However, tabulation of survey results and
some additional internal operations are handled from our Missouri
office. The UK office handles much of the field interviewing for the Eastern
Hemisphere as well as client contact with some of the UK and European clients.

Who conducts the
interviews?
Nearly all industrial and
executive interviews are conducted by Welling & Company's in-house interviewing
staff who are experienced in dealing with key decision-makers in various
industries and are adept at not only establishing rapport with respondents
quickly but in conducting accurate and complete interviews. A small portion of
the interviewing on some projects is sub-contracted to a European firm which has
been working with Welling & Company for over 15 years. These interviews are
generally those requiring certain bi-lingual capabilities or are in countries
where additional contacts or experience are useful. Interviewers are briefed in
detail before every project to be certain the respondent pre-qualification and
the interview are administered properly.
Who is interviewed and how
is the sample selected?
Sample design is dependent upon
the needs of the client and the focus of the survey. However, most of the
samples are drawn from Welling & Company's database of decision makers (in the
energy industry), consisting of approximately 40,000
names. In some cases, the client prefers to provide a list of customers or
prospects which is either used to supplement the research firm's list or to be
the only source of names (for example, if the survey were to be conducted among
a specific group of customers or users). All design, planning, tabulation,
report preparation, analysis and work with the interviews is handled in-house
within the research firm and none of this is sub-contracted (except a small
percentage of interviewing, as cited above).
